👉Early Life & Pulau BidongBackground: La Toan Vinh studied at the Sai-Gon Fine-arts University before leaving Vietnam.Refugee Camp Art: He arrived at the Pulau Bidong refugee camp in 1980.Role with UNHCR: Between 1981 and 1982, he produced over 100 sketches and paintings documenting daily life in the camp and served as the Chief of Fine Art for the UNHCR Education Division.Artistic & Curatorial CareerMail Art: Vinh is an active member of the international mail art and Fluxus movements, continuing a decades-long tradition of submitting and archiving mail art.Photography: After relocating to Canada, he became a prolific event photographer, capturing fashion, cinema, and cultural events across Montreal, New York, and Boston.Exhibitions & Archives: His work spans a broad array of disciplines, including digital and street event photography. His original silk-screen sketches from the refugee camps have since been preserved in collections like the Malaysia Design Archive, while his photography from New York art circles is archived in collections such as the William S.
