La Toàn Vinh is a Vietnamese-born artist, photographer, and mail artist currently based in Montreal, Canada. He is recognized for documenting life in refugee camps through sketches and paintings and for his active participation in international mail art and photography, particularly in the Montreal and New York art scenes.Background and EducationRefugee Experience: La Toàn Vinh arrived at the Pulau Bidong refugee camp in Malaysia from Vietnam in 1980.Artistic Documentation: Between 1981 and 1982, he produced over 100 sketches and paintings documenting life in the camp.Role at Bidong: During his time at Pulau Bidong, he served as the Chief of Fine Art for the UNHCR Education Division.Education: He studied at the Sai Gon Fine Arts University and later graduated from the University of Quebec in Montreal.Artistic Career and ProjectsMail Art & Photography: Vinh is an active contributor to the international mail art community, engaging with artists worldwide.
