👉Bức ảnh chụp bối cảnh Nha Trang những ngày cuối cùng khi quân đội VNCH cùng các cố vấn Mỹ tìm cách tháo chạy khỏi vùng chiến sự. Một chiếc phi cơ chuẩn bị cất cánh với dòng người đang giằng co hỗn loạn để lên máy bay. Đáng chú ý hơn là cận cảnh một người đàn ông nước ngoài (vị Tổng lãnh sự Mỹ ở Nha Trang) Đánh vào mặt một thường dân đang loay hoay đu càng lên . Sau lưng họ, bóng một người khác dường như cũng đang hớt hải tìm mọi cách giúp đỡ anh này nhưng vô vọng. Xa xa người lính cảnh vệ cầm súng đang la hét, cố ngăn cản nhưng không đẩy lùi được dòng người tuyệt vọng, hỗn loạn đang dấn tới.
Tên Tổng lãnh sự Mỹ này chẳng mày bị chết khoãng nửa giờ sau đó vì chiến tranh…ông Thái Khắc Chương cho biết sau khi chụp xong liền bay sang Philippines tráng và rửa ảnh…vì hãng thông tấn Union Press International(UPI) có trụ sở ở Manila…
Theo La Toàn Vinh, bức ảnh đã đoạt giải nhất của World Press Photo năm 1975 và nổi tiếng toàn thế giới. Sau đó Nha-Trang, tháng 3.1975 còn được đưa vào tuyển tập Photo Of The Year 1976, ấn bản uy tín của Hội Nhiếp ảnh Hoàng gia Anh. Vinh dự hơn, bức ảnh còn được Hội đồng nghệ thuật Tự điển Thời sự thế giới thế kỷ 20 gồm những nhiếp ảnh gia tên tuổi thế giới chọn vào như một tác phẩm tiêu biểu khi sách xuất bản tại Pháp.
Rất nhiều báo chí quốc tế và trong nước đã đăng bức ảnh này nhưng lại không có mấy thông tin về tác giả. La Toàn Vinh trong bài viết của mình cho biết tác giả bức ảnh là Thái Khắc Chương, một tay máy “cứng cựa” ở Đà Nẵng, ngoài ra ông cũng còn một người anh là Thái Khắc Chuyên cùng là phóng viên chiến trường( UPI…)
Ông Chương cũng từng chụp thành công rất nhiều tác phẩm, đặc biệt là ảnh chiến sự. Sau 1975, ông rời Việt Nam ra nước ngoài. Về sự ra đời của bức ảnh nói trên, trong một lần gặp nhau ở Camden Street tại Toronto (Canada), Thái Khắc Chương đã kể lại rằng ông chụp được gần như tình cờ tại phi trường Nha Trang.
Nhà nghiên cứu La Toàn Vinh còn cho biết sang Canada, Thái Khắc Chương vẫn say mê chụp ảnh. Trên tay ông lúc nào cũng sẵn sàng một máy quay hay máy ảnh để có thể tác nghiệp bất cứ đâu. Ngoài chụp hình, ông còn kinh doanh một cửa hàng bán thức ăn nhanh. Đặc biệt tại cửa hàng, tấm hình đoạt giải World Press Photo năm 1975 được ông phóng lớn, treo lên vách của tiệm Fastfood ở Toronto, nay thì có 2 tiệm…
Thái Khắc Chương đã mất vì bệnh ung thư tại Toronto, còn tấm hình đã đi vào lịch sử nhiếp ảnh và còn sống mãi.
